Sirena' Short Playwriting Contest

The Alejandro Casona Visitor Reception Centre, in addition to managing the tourist activity of Besullo, is responsible for the social and cultural revitalisation of the village and its rural parish, as well as the promotion and dissemination of the figure and work of the author from Besullo.

 

Within this cultural work, which forms part of the essence of the Centre's work, we believe that there is no better way to vindicate the figure of Casona than by promoting the theatre, in this case in its creative literary aspect.

And we could do no less than baptise this award with a name clearly alluding to the work of our neighbouring playwright. ‘Sirena’ refers to “La sirena varada”, Casona's first original play and winner, in 1934, of the Lope de Vega Prize of the Madrid City Council.

​

 

The aim, therefore, is to encourage among the population a taste and love for writing plays, which will then be performed, at the very least, in Besullo itself.

​

 

To this end, the Centro de Recepción de Visitantes Alejandro Casona de Besullo announces the FIRST EDITION OF THE ‘SIRENA’ PRIZE FOR SHORT THEATRICAL WRITINGS, with a deadline for submission of works from 23 MARCH TO 31 AUGUST 2025.
