Cangas Wine Museum

The Cangas del Narcea Wine Museum is located in the southern part of the town, in the popular winery district of Santiso. The complex, after the extension works, reopened its doors to the public on the 9th of July 2010.

The new building has an elliptical design, similar to a basket, with an enormous architectural load within the respect for the environment. The design, as a whole, aims to offer the visitor a walk through the wine culture of Asturias. The Museum's permanent exhibition consists of three adjoining buildings: In the main building, the visitor discovers six thematic areas divided into two rooms.

The visit is a journey through the work of the vineyard, its millenary history and the singular natural characteristics that make this wine a unique product, as well as the different tasks and calendars both in the vineyard and in the winery with their many peculiarities. The tour also allows us to see an extensive exhibition of pieces, each one of them with an almost unique singularity.

You will continue your visit in a second area, entering a shed at the back of the museum, where you will be able to see an exhibition of large pieces, unique because they were designed to meet specific needs. You will also be able to see a plantation and traditional vine trellises with local grape varieties. Finally, in a third building adjoining the museum, you can also discover a traditional Asturian wine cellar with an old beam wine press, which is nearly five hundred years old.

The visitor will find in every corner of the Museum multiple museographic resources based on new technologies such as audiovisuals and manipulatives, which will undoubtedly contribute to complete an attractive and different visit.

You can obtain more information by visiting the Museum's website.
