Gold Route
It is a mixed route, with part of the route to be done by car, specifically from Cangas del Narcea to past San Pedro de Las Montañas, and another part of hiking, along dirt tracks that will take us to see the ancient Roman gallery. , the carcabón or mountain cut and an old cortín.
The history of gold mining in this area is extensive and long-lasting. The Roman presence developed throughout the first two centuries of our era, and focused fundamentally on the extraction of metals such as iron, zinc and, mainly, gold. Witness to this are the remains of ancient Roman roads that can still be seen in towns in the region, as well as the numerous place names that refer to the extractive activity of the time (Montefurado, Valledor...)
The remains of the ancient Roman gallery can be visited, with guided interpretation, by the Tour Narcea company.
