Sanctuary of Our Lady of Holly

Built in 1575 , in polished stone and with a sober appearance, the history of this Sanctuary has been accompanied from its beginnings by a multitude of episodes that narrate the miracles of the Virgen del Acebo , a Romanesque carving from the 13th century , originally an image of the seated Virgin, completely made of wood. Over time, the sculpted body was replaced by clothing and cloaks that cover a frame, keeping the head of the original carving, and the figure of the Child Jesus was replaced in 1900, due to its deterioration.
The main altarpiece , from the 17th century, is the work of the Cangas sculptor Manuel Ron de Pixán , and is part of the baroque style spread by the Corias Monastery Workshop.
It is located on a hill, about 12 kilometers from Cangas del Narcea, and from there you can get some prodigious views of the municipality of Cangas del Narcea.
